This is by far the most unique, scientific, and personalized nutrition approach I have ever seen and so I just had to share it with all of you. A few years back, I heard about a nutritional practitioner offering nutrition plans based on our genes and if someone had wanted to turn it into a fad, yes the name may have been DNA diets. This is when I found out about the amazing method Joanna Bowen was using with her clients.
What she offers is called ‘nutrigenomics‘ , the scientific study of the interaction of nutrition and genes that is used with great effect for the prevention and treatment of disease. In layman’s terms how Joanna describes it is, we all have a set of unique genes and we have the power to positively or negatively influence the expression of our genes through nutrition and other factors.
As an example, if we have a diabetic gene, this does not mean we will get diabetes, but what it does mean is that our lifestyle and the environment we expose our genes to alters its expression whether that be towards disease or good health.
