Entrepreneurs, Potential, & Transformation

You never know what you can become or your full potential until you are pushed so far outside your comfort zone it surprises you with a secret thrill of astonishment.

We become entrepreneurs for freedom, independence, self expression, self actualization, contribution, money, and community. However, on our journey we encounter the unexpected realization of a complete personal transformation that rolls through like a consistent storm leaving us standing strong and resilient in the face of adversity.

I started my entrepreneur path years ago as a shy, somewhat timid, introvert who had courage, determination, a dream, and work ethic. If you had ever told me I would be presenting or public speaking, I would have laughed and said you have the wrong girl. Ironically with presenting, what started out of necessity to grow my business has become a very important skill I need to use consistently that allows me to connect, communicate, and serve my clients with way more impact.

Have you ever Challenged Who You Know Yourself to be?

Entrepreneurs will radically become a better, stronger, smarter more confident person than they ever knew was possible for themselves no matter what competency and belief level they begin at. That is a bold statement, but an inevitable truth for anyone who embarks on the entrepreneur journey.

On my entrepreneur path, I have…

…increased my risk level

…decreased my fear in asking

…learned to play a bigger game

…become bolder and more confident

…become a  better, faster decision maker

…become a strong communicator

…developed a solution seeking attitude

…developed a possibility mindset

…learned to believe in and see myself as a leader

…learned that failure is necessary for growth and success, it is a friend

Personal Growth for Entrepreneurs

As an entrepreneur personal growth is not optional, it is essential. Your business will grow in direct correlation to your own skills and your willingness to see, be open to, and develop the skills that your business requires to succeed. You will hold back your own success and the potential for business growth if you dig your heels in and say, “that’s not me… I’m afraid… I don’t know how…I have never been good at… it’s just something I don’t do…”. Granted there are some things you can hire people for, but there will be and most likely are things right now you have been avoiding due to fear. It’s time to remove those paradigms and perspectives around who you know yourself to be or rather where you have held yourself, and step up to playing bigger to your potential and the possibilities that exist.

Are you Performing at Your Peak Potential?

The irony in the question above is we do not know our peak potential until we have been pushed. There is one thing you can know for sure and that is if you are comfortable and in a place of ease as an entrepreneur, you are not engaging your full potential. There is nothing wrong with being comfortable and in ease, it actually is very low stress and most likely feels great. However, if you are not where you want to be with your business or feel stagnant or want more, then ask yourself the following questions:

  1. What have I avoided doing in my business because it is uncomfortable and unnatural for me?
  2. What one skill or personal trait if I developed more would improve my business?
  3. Am I too comfortable? Where if I allowed myself to feel discomfort, would it benefit my business?
  4. Where am I not developing my potential or where do I need to push myself more to perform at my peak?

Transformation Occurs Where There is Change & Progress

Transformation cannot occur unless something changes from what it is to something new and that change is seen as development to a better state of being.

Do we choose transformation or does it happen to us unwillingly?

As an entrepreneur you will absolutely be transformed professionally and personally and sometimes it will be unconsciously.

However, to be a successful entrepreneur and to build a sustainable, profitable business you will need to be open to change, be willing to learn, commit to personal growth, and push the boundaries and confines of your own comfort or thinking of what you are capable of and what is possible for your business.

Potential is when we decide to push past where we are and develop to perform at our peak.

An entrepreneur’s potential will inevitably grow due to daily pressures and circumstances forcing them outside comfort zones to acquire desired results.

Transformation as an entrepreneur will occur naturally as we traverse our own path in entrepreneurship, but extraordinary transformation happens only when we become aware, make a choice, commit, and conquer our own evolution.
